The award of JRF and eligibility for assistant professor’s post depends on the performance of the candidate in all the three papers of NET. However, candidates qualifying exclusively for an assistant professor are not considered for JRF.

UGC NET Merit List 2018
- A separate category-wise and subject-wise merit list will be prepared for the candidates those obtained the qualifying percentile of marks.
- Top 15% candidates from the merit list will be declared NET qualified for eligibility of Assistant professor only.
- Among NET qualified candidates, a separate merit list will be carried out for the award of JRF.
- The qualifying marks criteria are set by the CBSE/UGC will be final.
Candidates who have cleared the UGC NET July 2018 test will now qualify to apply for the post of Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellow & Asst. Professor both, as per the exam they have cleared. UGC will issue the qualifying certificates to the candidates who have passed the test.
UGC National Eligibility Test July 2018 was available in 84 different subjects and was conducted via 1700 exam centers across 91 cities in India.
CBSE had begun the online application process for NET on behalf of UGC. After the main exam on 8th July, CBSE had released all question papers along with their respective sets. Later, CBSE had released the recorded responses of candidates and had given an option to challenge discrepancies, if any.
Candidates are provided with the option to challenge the captured responses/answer key on payment of Rs 1000/- per question. The fee will be refunded if the challenge is accepted. Final answer key will be released after considering the challenges.
